Mike Basich, based in the USA, is an ex-professional snowboarder turned photographer who fell in love with mountains and snow. Having purchased land, he chose one of the most exposed sites, on the top of a mountain, to build an off-grid tiny home.
Designed around the golden ratio principal, the house looks and feels much more spacious that the square footage would have you think.
We love how Mike talks about minimising your use of power by going to bed at dusk and waking up at sunrise – this way, his solar system is much smaller and cheaper than it otherwise would have to be. Living more in tune with the seasons brings hard work but also immense rewards.
And who wouldn’t want that magnificent view from the amazing south facing window!
